Privacy Notice

The short version

Your conversations are stored encrypted on your own device, not on our servers. The AI model that answers you runs on our own hardware in Dorset, United Kingdom. Nothing you type is sent to OpenAI, Google, Anthropic or any other company, and nothing is used to train models.

Who we are

Alice is an AI assistant service operated by Philip Leach, an individual trading from Dorset, United Kingdom. Philip Leach is the data controller responsible for your personal data. In this notice, "we" and "us" mean Philip Leach.

What we store

• Account details — your email address and sign-in credentials, held by our hosting provider so you can log in.
• Your setup answers — the name you give the assistant, your interests and the areas you want help with, so Alice can work the way you asked.
• A daily message count — a number per day, so we can apply plan allowances fairly. No message content is kept.
• Payment records — your plan, its status and renewal date. Card details are handled entirely by Paddle, our payment provider; we never see or store them.

What we do not store

Your chats. They live in your browser, encrypted with a passphrase you choose, and you can export or delete them at any time. Prompts pass through our server while the model is writing its reply and are not written to disk or kept afterwards.

Why we are allowed to hold it

We process your account and setup details to provide the service you asked for (contract), the message count to run the plans fairly and prevent abuse (legitimate interests), and payment records because we have to keep them (legal obligation).

How long we keep it

Account and setup details until you delete your account. Daily counts for 12 months. Payment and tax records for 6 years, as UK law requires.

Who else is involved

• Our hosting and database provider, for sign-in and account data (EU/UK region).
• Paddle, for taking payments and issuing invoices.

The AI model itself is ours and runs on our own machine in Dorset.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we use it, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Email us from the address on your account and we will reply within one month.

Cookies

We use only what is needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings. No advertising or tracking cookies.
